Washington DC & the National Museum of African American History & Culture

Come & join us on this exciting trip as we travel to Washington DC to explore the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture.

 

Day 1: The departure time from Greenwood will be @ 7 a.m.  We will arrive @ the Hampton Inn Washington-Downtown-Convention Center, (your home for 2 nights) in the late afternoon.  Tonight dinner will be Bucca di Beppo where you will enjoy a delicious Italian meal served family style. (D)

 

Day 2:  After breakfast @ the hotel, our step-on guide will join us for a tour of DC & surrounding area for 3 hours. There will be stops during the tour for you to get off the coach & explore with our guide.  The nation’s capital is full of stories of mystery, humor and amazing facts that will keep you captivated during the tour. We will stop for lunch @ Ben’s Chili Bowl, a Washington landmark that has been serving hamburgers, hot dogs & milkshakes since 1958.  Many famous people have eaten @ Ben’s over the year.  Just to name a few, President Obama, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, & Oprah. After lunch, our next adventure is @ The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. This is a place for all people to explore the story of America through the lens of the African American experience, featuring collections documenting art, history and culture. It is an architectural marvel with five stories above ground and three stories below.  There are 11 exhibitions covering a variety of topics from history and culture to community, music and the arts.  You will have plenty of time to explore this amazing museum this afternoon. (This museum will open in September 2016).  Dinner will be @ a local restaurant tonight.  (B, L, D)

 

Day 3:  After breakfast, we will begin our journey home talking about all the things we have seen & learned in our nation’s capital.

Cost includes:  Roundtrip Modern Motorcoach Transportation, 2 Night Accommodations @ the Hampton Inn Washington-Downtown-Convention Center, Services of Step-on Guide, Porterage, 5 Meals (2 Breakfasts, 1 Lunch 2 Dinners)

 

Payment Schedule:  Deposit:  $100 Per Person due by November 15th,2016 –

 

2nd Payment:  January 15th, 2017 - Final Payment Due:  March 15th, 2017

 

The room block @ the Hampton Inn Washington- Downtown-Convention Center have to be confirmed with names by December 15th   or the hotel will release the rooms back to inventory. This is due to the busy season in the city during this time of year.
